This unit is about virtual space: the way that information technology is visualised in extended comparisons and imagery. It introduces ideas about metaphors, symbols and icons and develops the idea of semantic field and relates these to the values and assumptions they imply.

Everything we do with a computer is mediated through the language, imagery and metaphors of the interface. What do the choices of such imagery, verbal and pictorial, reveal?
